Practice Makes Perfect...Or Not...

Rika was plopped on the floor next to one of the coffeetables, a pile of brightly colored perfectly square papers resting on it infront of her, and a book in her hand that she was studying. "Okay!" She shouted out in a determined fashion, setting the book aside and picking up the paper.
"Like this, and then that and...oops..." She started folding the paper, grimacing when she tore it a little. "That's okay...like this and...um, no wait..." She checked the book as she continued. When she'd finished the paper was folded into a questionable form with what could be a head, tail, and either arms or wings. It was hard to tell. She frowned at her origami piece, then back at the book. "Okay...I'll try again!"
Many colorful forms later the pieces still failed to resemble the bird in her origami book. With a frustrated growl, Rika picked up another piece and started again, not paying any attention as the door opened.

Hannah rushed through the door, giggling. She had just gotten through with gym class, where the teacher was absent. Her and some other girls had gotten into a water gun fight, and she had a blast.
Her left knee bending, she was prepared to bounce over the side of the couch, knowing it was against the rules, but feeling too hyper to care. The one thing that stopped her was the sight of another girl, which made her straighten up her act immediately. Ears folded back in embarrassment, and tail no longer swaying happily, she hung her head. "I'm sorry...I didn't know there was anyone else in here..."

"Don't worry, I'm not here." Rika said, as if it's the most natural thing in the world to say and made perfect sense. Suddenly she seemed to realize that she'd been spoken to. "Oops, sorry! Concentrating and all!" She turned with a grin. "Did you...eh?" She paused as she took in the other girl's appearance.
"Maybe I've been concentrating too hard." She rubbed her eyes, and looked again. Finding the girl was still there, she pinched her own hand. "Ouch! Nope, not asleep." She rubbed the hand, and turned back to the newcomer. Standing up, she crossed the space between them, reaching oiut to poke the other girl's arm. "Nope, you're real too...are these real?" She poked the girls ears, watching them twitch, and tilting her head to look at her tail. Not stopping to think for one moment that her actions might be a little offensive.

She giggled, "No worries, I space out all the time! Not that I think you were or anything...err..." She sweatdropped, then grinned a few seconds later. "So, what are you up to?" She glanced around at all the papers, admiring the colors.
She smiled, grabbing her tail and twirling the fur around her finger, as one might do with their hair. "Yup, they're real alright!" She didn't mind the girl's actions at all, at least she was open about her curiosity, which Hannah actually appreciated. It hurt her feelings when people just stared at her oddly, and she wanted to scream at them, "Just ask me about my appearance, geez! I'm still a normal girl, minus the fox ears and tail!"

"Wow, that's so cool!" Rika replied excitedly. It was like something out of book or tv show A fox-girl? A fox-girl would be a really cool character to put in her next story...whoops, but she was forgetting about the other girl again...
"Aw, but don't say "normal". Normal is boring - you're way cooler than normal." She grinned, stepping back. "And, don't worry, I was way spaced out. Happens all the time when I get caught up in something. I'm Rika - Rika Johnson." She bowed, then straightened, still grinning. "So what's your name?"
((Sorry, work kept me away from the computer all week. It's a neccessary evil -_-' LOL))
